Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Lyon (4-12) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Mondeville (9-7) 76-59 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Mondeville. Lyon managed to win second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mondeville forced 22 Lyon turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Power forward Marieme Badiane (190-94) fired 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Canadian forward Kimberley Gaucher-Smith (185-84, college: Utah) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Mondeville players scored in double figures. American forward Lauren Ervin (191-85, college: Arkansas, agency: Two Points) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds and Mali center Djene Diawara (192-85) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Mondeville moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Bourges. Loser Lyon dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Tarbes. Mondeville will meet at home higher ranked Basket Landes (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lyon will play against Hainaut (#9) in Saint-Amand and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
