Regular Season Round 16: Udine Delser - Palermo 55-47

Very expected game when 12th ranked Palermo (2-12) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Udine Delser (9-6) 55-47. It looked good early as Palermo took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Udine Delser had a 18-11 second period charge getting the lead and Palermo was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 47-55. Udine Delser dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Palermo's 28. Udine Delser forced 29 Palermo turnovers. The winners were led by Nigerian-British swingman Ejay Ofomata (180-86, college: Central State) who scored that evening 12 points and 8 rebounds and guard Debora Vicenzotti (182-89) supported her with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Udine Delser players scored in double figures. Udine Delser's coach Valdi Medeot allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds by Croatian forward Ivana Blazevic (184-93) did not help to save the game for Palermo. Forward Marta Verona (178-94) added 7 points for lost side. Newly promoted Udine Delser maintains sixth position in A2 with 9-6 record. Palermo at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 12 games lost. Udine Delser's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ferrara (#4) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Palermo will play against the league's second-placed Vicenza (#2) and hope to win that game.
