Regular Season Round 34: Ryukyu GK - Niigata Albirex 74-82

Rather expected game in Okinawa where 5th ranked Ryukyu GK (14-19) was defeated by third ranked Niigata Albirex (18-15) 82-74 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Niigata Albirex made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) chipped in 16 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) responded with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Shuhei Kitagawa (185-85) scored 16 points. Ryukyu GK's coach Tsutomu Isa let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Niigata Albirex maintains third position with 18-15 record having ten points less than leader SeaHorses, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Ryukyu GK lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 19 games lost. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round. Ryukyu GK will play again at home against Niigata Albirex (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
