Regular Season Round 20: Jekabpils - Jurmala 83-70

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Jurmala (9-12) was defeated on the road by third ranked Jekabpils (11-8) 83-70. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Jekabpils's pressure prevailed and they won that period 26-16 extending their advantage to 13 points. They made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Guard Janis Antrops (193-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 4 assists. The former international point guard Rinalds Sirsnins (186-85) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Edgars Jeromanovs (186-86) replied with 17 points and 6 assists and forward Arturs Duselis (201-89) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Jurmala. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jekabpils maintains third position with 11-8 record having four points less than leader Ventspils. Jurmala at the other side keeps the fifth place with 12 games lost. Jekabpils will play against league's leader Ventspils on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Jurmala will play against BK Ogre (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
