Regular Season Round 19: IK Eos - Lulea Basket 61-85

Date: January 28, 2017
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Lulea Basket (14-5) crushed 6th ranked IK Eos (8-11) in Lund 85-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Lulea Basket. IK Eos was better in fourth quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded IK Eos 42-25 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for the former international forward Allis Nystrom (185-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds. American guard Katie Bussey (175-90, college: Montana St., agency: LBM Management) contributed with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Lulea Basket players scored in double figures. Austrian guard Georgia De Leeuw (177-90) answered with 29 points and Matilda Edren (174-94) added 8 points in the effort for IK Eos. IK Eos' coach Johanna Ericsson already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion moved-up to second place. IK Eos lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. Lulea Basket will face Alvik Basket (#3) in Stockholm in the next round, which may be the game of the day. IK Eos will play on the road against Visby Ladies and hope to win that game.
