Not a big story in a game in Santander where 7th ranked Valle de Egues (6-8) was outplayed by leader Estela (14-0) 83-53 on Saturday. Estela forced 20 Valle de Egues turnovers and outrebounded them 52-37 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Pablo Sanchez (198-81) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Riley Stockton (192-92, college: Seattle Pacific) chipped in 19 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Four Estela players scored in double figures. Estela's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Javier Valderrey produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and Ivorian power forward Kouassi Konan (204-91) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the fourteenth consecutive win for Estela. They maintain first place in Group A-A with 14-0 record. Newly promoted Valle de Egues keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Estela will face Univ.Burgos (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Valle de Egues will play against Valladolid Univ. (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
