Regular Season Round 17: Cornella - Martorell 58-84

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Martorell (10-4) outleveled on the road 5th ranked Cornella (7-7) 84-58 on Saturday. Martorell forced 23 Cornella turnovers. Cornella was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Ruben Morales (193-85) who scored 17 points. Point guard Cristian Oliva (185-82) chipped in 10 points and 6 assists. Four Martorell players scored in double figures. Center Fernando Villalon (200-94) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Ruben Cintas (200-84) added 9 points respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Martorell. They keep a position of Group C-A leader, which they share with Menorca and Calvia. Loser Cornella dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. Martorell will face JAC Sants (#11) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cornella will play on the road against Menorca (#3) in Mahon and hope to win that game.
