Regular Season Round 16: Milano - San Salvatore 58-50
Date: January 28, 2017
Very predictable result when third ranked Milano (12-4) beat at home 8th ranked San Salvatore (7-9) 58-50. It looked good early as San Salvatore took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Milano had a 17-12 second period charge getting the lead and San Salvatore was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 50-58. They outrebounded San Salvatore 44-26 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by forward Giulia Maffenini (175-92, agency: Two Points) who scored that evening 20 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Stefania Guarneri (182-95) supported her with 8 points and 13 rebounds. Milano's coach Franz Pinotti allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 20 points and 8 rebounds by forward Delia Gagliano (180-97) did not help to save the game for San Salvatore. Slovenian power forward Ana Ljubenovic (185-88) added 12 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Milano maintains third position in A2 with 12-4 record having just three points less than leader Sesto SG. San Salvatore at the other side dropped to the ninth place with nine games lost. Milano's next round opponent will be league's leader Sesto SG in Sesto San Giovanni and it will be for sure the game of the week. San Salvatore will play at home against Albino (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
