Regular Season Round 33: Hiroshima D. - Toyotsu FE 85-74

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Toyotsu FE (24-7) in Hiroshima on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Dragonflies (25-6) 85-74. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Toyotsu FE. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Dragonflies led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Dragonflies outrebounded Toyotsu FE 48-35 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dragonflies made 9 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by Toyotsu FE helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Connor Lammert (206-94, college: Texas) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Guard Seiya Tanaka (186-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Dragonflies players scored in double figures. American forward Rodney Carney (201-84, college: Memphis) answered with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Nigerian center Solomon Alabi (216-88, college: Florida St.) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Toyotsu FE. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dragonflies have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 25-6 record, which they share with Kumamoto V. Toyotsu FE at the other side still keeps top position with seven games lost. Dragonflies is again looking forward to face league's leader Toyotsu FE in Nagoya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toyotsu FE will have a break next round.
