Regular Season Round 33: Gunma - Kagawa FA 63-60

Fifth-ranked Kagawa FA (10-21) was very close to win a game against first ranked Gunma (22-9). Gunma managed to secure only three-point victory 63-60. However their fans expected much easier game. Kagawa FA was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 22-12 third quarter run of Gunma. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Kagawa FA to just 5 points in first quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Kagawa FA's 28. Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) stepped up and scored 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and guard Shota Kurihara (187-93) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Vincentian power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) scored 4 points and 8 rebounds. Kagawa FA's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gunma. They maintain first place with 22-9 record, which they share with Nishinomiya S. Kagawa FA at the other side keeps the fifth position with 21 games lost. Gunma will again play against Kagawa FA (#5) in Takamatsu in the next round. Kagawa FA will have a break next round.
