Regular Season Round 33: Bambitious Nara - Yamagata 79-81

Sixth-ranked Bambitious Nara (9-22) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Yamagata (15-16) on Saturday. The visitors from Yamagata managed to secure only two-point victory 81-79. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 19-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Yamagata outrebounded Bambitious Nara 40-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Yamagata especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. American center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and guard Masanari Masanari (186-91) accounted for 17 points. American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) came up with 16 points and guard Atsunobu Hirao (178-89) added 14 points respectively for Bambitious Nara in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Yamagata maintains third place with 15-16 record having nine points less than leader Gunma. Loser Bambitious Nara keeps the sixth position with 22 games lost. Yamagata will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bambitious Nara will play again against Yamagata (#3) and hope to secure a win.
