Regular Season Round 16: Distrito Olimpico - Promete 65-62

Very expected game in Madrid where 10th ranked Promete (6-10) was edged by fifth ranked Distrito Olimpico (10-6) 65-62 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Promete won third quarter 12-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Distrito Olimpico won last quarter 23-21. They also forced 21 Promete turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Maria Bolonio (180-85) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and center Daira Varas (193-89) who added 3 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Laura Arroyo (181-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and guard Elena Salcedo (170-90) scored 13 points. Four Promete players scored in double figures. Distrito Olimpico maintains fifth position in Group B with 10-6 record. Newly promoted Promete keeps the tenth place with ten games lost. Distrito Olimpico will face league's leader Alcobendas on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Promete will play against IF Air Europa (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
