Very expected game when 6th ranked Ponferrada CDP (8-6) was defeated at home by second ranked Estudiantes L. (10-4) 83-70 on Saturday. Estudiantes L. outrebounded Ponferrada CDP 42-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was point guard Marcos Ruiz (176-95) who scored 17 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Serbian forward Dusan Juzbasic (201-99, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Four Estudiantes L. players scored in double figures. Estudiantes L.'s coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Haitian-American forward James Cambronne (201-91, college: St.Michael's) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and point guard David Valcarce (182-97) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Estudiantes L. maintains second place in Group A-B with 10-4 record having just two points less than leader Chantada, which they share with Leon. Newly promoted Ponferrada CDP keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Estudiantes L. will face Innova Chef (#10) in Zamora in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ponferrada CDP will play on the road against Calidus Gal.COB (#5) in Ourense and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
