Regular Season Round 34: SeaHorses - Toyota Alvark 69-81

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Aishin Sea Horses (23-8) in Kariya on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Toyota Alvark (26-5) 81-69. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) scored 20 points to lead the charge for the winners and international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Aishin Sea Horses' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyota Alvark have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 26-5 record which they share with defeated Aishin Sea Horses. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top place with eight games lost. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aishin Sea Horses will play again at home against the league's leader Toyota Alvark and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
