Date: January 28, 2017
The game between Top Four teams took place in Tokyo. 4th ranked host Hitachi Sunrockers (15-16) lost to second ranked Tochigi Brex (24-7) 68-64. It looked good early as Hitachi Sunrockers took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tochigi Brex had a 26-9 second period charge getting the lead and Hitachi Sunrockers were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-68. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who helped to win the game recording 6 points, 18 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international guard Hironori Watanabe (180-88) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Tochigi Brex's coach Thomas Wisman allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex maintains second position with 24-7 record having six points less than leader SeaHorses. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side keep the fourth place with 16 games lost. Tochigi Brex will have a break next round. Hitachi Sunrockers will play again at home against the league's second-placed Tochigi Brex (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
