Regular Season Round 17: Den Bosch - Zwolle 61-74
Date: January 28, 2017
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Den Bosch. Second ranked Zwolle faced 4th placed Dukes UDB. Guests from Zwolle (12-5) defeated host Dukes UDB (8-9) 74-61. It looked good early as Dukes UDB took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Zwolle had a 14-5 second period charge getting the lead and Dukes UDB was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-74. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dukes UDB to just 5 points in second quarter. American guard J.T. Tiller (188-88, college: Missouri) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). His fellow American import center Clayton Vette (202-88, college: Winona St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Steve McWhorter (188-92, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) answered with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international forward Ralf Pagter Ralf (200-89) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Dukes UDB. Dukes UDB's coach Sander van der Holst tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Zwolle maintains second place with 12-5 record having four points less than leader Groningen. Dukes UDB at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Zwolle will play against Leeuwarden (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dukes UDB will play against the league's leader Groningen and hopes to get back on the winning track.
