Regular Season Round 16: Villeneuve - Flammes 79-64

Round 16 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Flammes (12-4). They were defeated by fifth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (10-6) 79-64 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Flammes. The game was mostly controlled by Villeneuve D'Ascq. Flammes managed to win third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villeneuve D'Ascq dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Flammes' 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-92, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 assists and the former international Johanne Gomis-Halilovic (179-85) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Villeneuve D'Ascq players scored in double figures. At the losing side Kadidia Minte (186-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (180-93, college: Connecticut) scored 17 points. Villeneuve D'Ascq moved-up to fourth place. Flammes at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Lattes Montp. who have the same record. Flammes will play next round against Nice trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Villeneuve D'Ascq will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Angers on the road.
