Regular Season Round 16: Stabia - Salerno 57-50

There was no surprise in Stabia where 13th ranked Salerno (1-14) was defeated by tenth ranked Castellammare (5-10) 57-50. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Salerno won fourth quarter 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by American-Irish forward Fiona O'Dwyer (178-99, college: Emmanuel, MA) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and guard Maria Ortolani (178-97) supported her with 9 points and 15 rebounds. Even 14 points and 8 rebounds by power forward Giorgia Assentato (177-99) did not help to save the game for Salerno. Irish power forward Sarah Kenny (180-97) added 9 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Castellammare moved-up to ninth place in A2. Salerno at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Castellammare's next round opponent will be league's leader Bologna on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Salerno will play against Civitanova (#5) in Civitanova Marche and hope to win that game.
