Regular Season Round 15: San Martino - Battipaglia 75-71
Date: January 29, 2017
No shocking result in a game in San Martino di L where fifth ranked San Martino (10-5) defeated 11th ranked Battipaglia (3-12) 75-71 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-13. But Battipaglia won third quarter 19-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when San Martino won last quarter 18-15. It was a great evening for American swingman Jasmine Bailey (176-90, college: Ill.-Chicago) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Lithuanian Egle Sulciute (190-85) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four San Martino players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Brooque Williams (175-89, college: California, PA, agency: Two Points) with 24 points and 6 rebounds and Greek forward Katerina Sotiriou (186-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Battipaglia's coach Massimo Riga rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. San Martino moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Napoli.
