Regular Season Round 35: Ryukyu GK - Niigata Albirex 77-74

Important game to mention about took place in Okinawa. Fifth ranked Ryukyu GK (15-19) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 3rd placed Niigata Albirex (18-16) 77-74 on Sunday evening. Niigata Albirex was ahead by 6 points at the halftime before a 38-29 second half run of Ryukyu GK. Forward Naoki Tashiro (188-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points. American Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Ryukyu GK's coach Tsutomu Isa allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Niigata Albirex. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ryukyu GK maintains fifth place with 15-19 record. Niigata Albirex at the other side keeps the third position with 16 games lost. They share it with Osaka Evessa. Ryukyu GK will play against league's leader Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Niigata Albirex will play at home against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
