Regular Season Round 16: Orvieto - Costa Masnaga 78-63

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Orvieto's (11-4) home victory over 6th ranked Costa Masnaga (10-6) 78-63. The game was mostly controlled by Orvieto. Costa Masnaga was better in third quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by Lithuanian power forward Gintare Mazionyte (188-91, college: Texas) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 18 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and guard Greta Brunelli (176-90) supported her with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Five Orvieto players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 15 points and 19 rebounds by power forward Giulia Rulli (185-91) did not help to save the game for Costa Masnaga. Guard Valentina Baldelli (170-89) added 9 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Costa Masnaga's coach Gabriele Pirola rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Orvieto moved-up to fourth place in A2. Costa Masnaga at the other side keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Orvieto's next round opponent will be Cagliari CUS (#13) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Costa Masnaga will play against Virtus Cagliari (#10) and hope to win that game.
