There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Oviedo (5-11) edged at home 10th ranked Real Celta Vigo (6-10) 84-82 on Sunday. Oviedo forced 19 Real Celta Vigo turnovers. Strangely Real Celta Vigo outrebounded Oviedo 56-38 including 20 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Joy Brown (180-93, college: Iona) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points, 15 rebounds and 9 assists and Canadian guard Mariah Nunes (178-93, college: Ryerson) who added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side guard Maria Ylenia Manzanares (175-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and American-Nigerian forward Cecilia Okoye (185-91, college: McNeese St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 19 rebounds and 5 blocks. Five Real Celta Vigo players scored in double figures. Oviedo maintains twelfth position in Group A with 5-11 record. Real Celta Vigo lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with ten games lost. Oviedo will face higher ranked C.Adelantados (#3) in San Cristobal in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
