Regular Season Round 34: Cyberdyne IR - Kumamoto V. 67-72

Rather predictable result in Tsukuba where second ranked Kumamoto V. (26-6) defeated 5th ranked Cyberdyne IR (13-19) 72-67 on Sunday. Cyberdyne IR was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Cyberdyne IR 45-33 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Joel James (208-94, college: N.Carolina) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Shota Isshiki (177-87) scored 17 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Kumamoto V. have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Hiroshima D. Cyberdyne IR lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with 19 games lost. Kumamoto V. will face Yamagata (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cyberdyne IR will play against Orange Vikings and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
