Regular Season Round 34: Aomori Watts - Nishinomiya S. 73-72

Important game to mention about took place in Aomori. Fourth ranked Aomori Watts (15-17) saved a 1-point victory at home edging much higher ranked Nishinomiya S. (22-10) 73-72 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Nishinomiya S.. It looked good early as Nishinomiya S. took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Aomori Watts had a 19-6 second period charge getting the lead and Nishinomiya S. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-73. Aomori Watts dominated on the defensive end, holding Nishinomiya S. to just 6 points in second quarter. American forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) supported him with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Even a double-double of 14 points and 19 rebounds by Australian center Jordan Vandenberg (216-90, college: N.Carolina St.) did not help to save the game for Nishinomiya S.. American forward Larry Owens (201-83, college: ORU, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 16 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Aomori Watts maintains fourth position with 15-17 record. Nishinomiya S. at the other side keeps the second place with ten games lost. Aomori Watts will play against Bambitious Nara (#6) on the road in the next round. Nishinomiya S. will play against Kagawa FA (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
