Regular Season Round 18: Moncalieri - Cecina 70-68

Ninth-ranked Cecina (8-9) made lots of trouble for second ranked Moncalieri (13-4). Moncalieri managed to secure only two-point victory 70-68. However their fans expected much easier game. Moncalieri made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Cecina turnovers. Cecina was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Riccardo Coviello (197-88) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Giorgio Di Bonaventura (192-97) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Moncalieri's coach Lorenzo Pansa allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Point guard Giovanni Bruni (185-82, agency: Interperformances) replied with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and point guard Simone Lasagni (184-94) added 17 points in the effort for Cecina. Moncalieri maintains second position in B with 13-4 record behind leader Omegna. Cecina at the other side dropped to the tenth place with nine games lost. Moncalieri will play against Fiorentina (#8) in Firenze in the next round where they are favorite. Cecina will play at home against Bottegone and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
