Regular Season Round 19: Latina Basket - Agrigento 80-62

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Latina Basket (11-8) won against at home 4th placed Agrigento (11-8) 80-62 on Sunday. Latina Basket forced 20 Agrigento turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Agrigento's players. It was a great evening for power forward Mitchell Poletti (205-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Keron DeShields (190-92, college: Tennessee St.) helped adding 19 points and 7 assists. Four Latina Basket players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Perrin Buford (198-94, college: Middle Tenn.St.) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and point guard Alessandro Piazza (175-87) scored 5 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Latina Basket moved-up to fifth place in A2. Latina Basket will face league's leader Angelico Biella on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Agrigento will play against Viola RC (#14) and hope to win that game.
