Regular Season Round 11: Tokyo Big Blue - Tokyo HT 63-91

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Tokyo Big Blue (1-19) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Tokyo HT (13-7) 91-63 on Sunday. The game without a history. Tokyo HT led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Tokyo HT outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 52-19 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Brian Harper (208-85, college: Paine) chipped in 27 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Kengo Funabashi (-93) produced 17 points and point guard Yoshikawa Osamuakira (182-92) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Tokyo HT. They moved-up to third place. Tokyo Big Blue lost their fourteenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Tokyo HT will face league's second-placed Kanazawa Sam. in Ishikawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tokyo Big Blue's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Tokyo Cinq R..
