Everything went according to plan in Siena where eighth ranked Mens Sana 1871 (11-8) outscored 14th ranked Viola RC (6-13) 75-54 on Sunday. Mens Sana 1871 dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Viola RC's 24. They outrebounded Viola RC 47-32 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard K.T. Harrell (193-92, college: Auburn) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Naturalized Brazilian Jonathan Tavernari (197-87, college: BYU) helped adding 15 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American-Danish guard Alan Voskuil (191-86, college: Texas Tech) responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Patrick Baldassarre (200-86, agency: Players Group) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mens Sana 1871 maintains eighth place in A2 with 11-8 record. Loser Viola RC keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. Mens Sana 1871 will face higher ranked Treviglio (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Viola RC will play against Agrigento (#7) and hope to win that game.
