Regular Season Round 16: Stelmet ZG - Trefl Sopot 102-78

Date: January 29, 2017
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Stelmet as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Twarde Pierniki) loss. Stelmet smashed 9th ranked Trefl in Zielona Gora 102-78. Stelmet made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The winners were led by American forward Armani Moore (193-94, college: Tennessee) who scored that evening 15 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) supported him with 8 points and 10 assists. Four Stelmet players scored in double figures. Even 16 points by American point guard Anthony Ireland (175-91, college: Loyola Mary) did not help to save the game for Trefl. Michal Kolenda (200-97) added 16 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Stelmet (14-3) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Torun. Trefl lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with eight games lost. Trefl will play next round against Stal Ostrow Wlkp. trying to get back on the winning streak. Stelmet will try to continue on its current victory against sixteenth ranked Stabill at Tarnobrzeg.
