Regular Season Round 16: Galil Gilboa - Maccabi Rishon 93-92

A very interesting game took place in Rosh Pina. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Maccabi Rishon (8-8) to eleventh ranked Galil Gilboa (6-10) 93-92 on Sunday evening. Galil Gilboa players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Maccabi Rishon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for American guard Michael Qualls (198-94, college: Arkansas) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import Jason Siggers (194-85, college: Albany) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. Four Galil Gilboa players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Shawn Dawson (198-93) replied with 31 points and 7 rebounds and American-Belarusian point guard Maalik Wayns (185-91, college: Villanova) added 28 points and 4 assists in the effort for Maccabi Rishon. Galil Gilboa moved-up to tenth place. Defending champion Maccabi Rishon dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Galil Gilboa's next round opponent will be higher ranked Hapoel Eilat (#8) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Maccabi Rishon will play against Ironi Nahariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
