The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked San Martin Corrientes (20-8) in Santiado Estero on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Quimsa (14-14) 88-76. The game was mostly controlled by Quimsa. San Martin Corrientes managed to win second period 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quimsa looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international forward Nicolas Romano (200-87) scored 24 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists during the contest. Quimsa's coach Nestor Garcia used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American power forward Jeremiah Wood (200-85, agency: Inception Sports) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90, agency: DTMones) scored 16 points. Quimsa maintains sixth position with 14-14 record. San Martin Corrientes at the other side still keeps top place with eight games lost. Quimsa are looking forward to face Boca Juniors (#9) in Buenos Aires in the next round. San Martin Corrientes will play on the road against Atenas (#9) in Cordoba and is hoping to win this game.
