The biggest surprise took place in Ramat Hen where host Maccabi Ramat Gan (11-2) beat league's leader Maccabi Ashdod (10-2) 77-71 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Maccabi Ashdod. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Maccabi Ramat Gan made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Chelsea Hopkins (173-90, college: San Diego St.) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import center Danielle Adams (185-89, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Erica Wheeler (170-91, college: Rutgers) produced 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international Katia Levitsky (190-85, college: Villanova) added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for the guests. Four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ramat Gan keeps a position of league leader. Defending champion Maccabi Ashdod dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Maccabi R.Gan. Maccabi Ashdod will play next round against Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Maccabi Ramat Gan will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Elitzur Holon on the road.
