Fourth-ranked GECR Indalo (14-15) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Instituto (18-12) in Cordoba on Tuesday. Instituto managed to secure only three-point victory 84-81. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 30-21 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Instituto forced 21 GECR Indalo turnovers. The best player for the winners was American swingman Rodney Green (196-88, college: La Salle) who scored 26 points. The other American import center Sam Clancy (202-80, college: USC, agency: DTMones) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Instituto players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Diego Romero (206-82, college: Florida St.) who recorded 25 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and the former international Carlos Schattmann (193-87) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Instituto have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Loser GECR Indalo dropped to the fifth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Argentino. Instituto will meet Weber Bahia (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. GECR Indalo will play against Atenas in Cordoba and hope to secure a win.
