Regular Season Round 18: Pinheiros - Macae 97-90

Very expected game in Sao Paolo where 15th ranked Macae (3-14) was defeated by third ranked Pinheiros (11-6) 97-90. Pinheiros players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Macae was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. Germerson Barbosa (202-93) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Kendall Anthony (173-93, college: Richmond) replied with 35 points (!!!) and 8 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and power forward Luiz Paulo Dos Santos (210-89, college: Slippery Rock) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Macae. Five Pinheiros and four Macae players scored in double figures. Pinheiros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 11-6 record behind leader Brasilia, which they share with Bauru. Macae lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. Pinheiros will play against league's second-placed Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Macae will have a break next round.
