Regular Season Round 21: Gries/Oberhoffen - CFBB 78-55

Bottom-ranked CFBB (0-21) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-55 loss to fifteenth ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (8-13) in Bischwiller on Tuesday evening. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 45-15 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Gries/Oberhoffen dominated on the defensive end, holding CFBB to just 2 points in fourth quarter. They made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Gregg Thondique (201-87, college: Virginia Union, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Ahmed Doumbia (195-89) chipped in 11 points. Four Gries/Oberhoffen players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Joel Ayayi (193-0) who recorded 7 points and 5 rebounds and forward Ivan Fevrier (203-99) added 12 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Gries/Oberhoffen went down to sixteenth position due to points difference, which they share with Lorient. CFBB lost their twenty first game in a row. They still close the standings. Gries/Oberhoffen will face higher ranked Vendee Challans (#13) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CFBB will play against Rueil (#5) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
