Regular Season Round 12: Regulators - Pirates 89-82

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Regulators as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Regulators defeated 8th ranked Pirates at home 89-82. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-19. But Pirates won second period 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Pirates 50-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. Regulators looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Pirates helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for international power forward Eugene Bain (195-88, college: Bellevue) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Gameliel Rose contributed with 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American Domonique Fernander (, college: Hobart) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and Tevin Hudson added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Pirates. Five Pirates players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Regulators have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Pirates at the other side keep the eighth place with eight games lost. Pirates will play next round against Rebels trying to get back on the winning streak. Regulators will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Cleaners on the road.
