Regular Season Round 19: Minas - Vitoria 78-82

Very predictable result when sixth ranked Universo/Vitoria (11-6) won against 12th ranked Minas (7-11) in Belo Horizonte 82-78. Universo/Vitoria players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a great evening for American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Andre Coimbra (206-86, college: Cent.Michigan) helped adding 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side naturalized Italian point guard Paulinho Boracini (183-84) responded with 24 points and 6 assists and power forward Anderson Mosso (205-82, college: Chipola JC) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Four Universo/Vitoria and five Minas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Universo/Vitoria moved-up to fourth place. Minas lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Universo/Vitoria will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Minas will play at home against Liga Sorocaba (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
