Regular Season Round 2: Capitalinos - Pinar del Rio 89-92

The most exciting game of round 2 in the LSB took place in La Habana. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of Capitalinos (0-2) to Pinar (2-0) 92-89 on Friday evening. Strangely Capitalinos outrebounded Pinar 30-17 including 20 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Capitalinos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Yosiel Monterrey (185-88) who scored 31 points and 7 steals. The former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) chipped in 29 points and 7 steals. Four Pinar players scored in double figures. International forward Karel Guzman (188-95) produced 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and forward Legismel Borlot (195-87) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Capitalinos' coach Rainel Panfet tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Pinar is looking forward to face Guerreros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Capitalinos will play against Guantanamo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
