Regular Season Round 36: Shiga L-Stars - Akita NH 84-61

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Akita Happinets (8-27) were smashed on the road by sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (7-28) 84-61 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Shiga L-Stars made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game, while Akita Happinets only scored seven points from the stripe. Akita Happinets were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Narito Namizato (172-89) contributed with 13 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. International guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds and American power forward Evan Ravenel (203-89, college: Ohio St.) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Akita Happinets. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shiga L-Stars maintains sixth position with 7-28 record which they share with defeated Akita Happinets. Akita Happinets lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 27 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face again Akita Happinets (#6) at home in the next round.
