Regular Season Round 15: Sokhumi - Rustavi 80-76

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Energy Invest (8-7) against fifth ranked Sokhumi (7-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Energy Invest was defeated by Sokhumi in a tough game in Tbilisi 76-80. Energy Invest was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 23-14 third quarter run of Sokhumi. They also forced 22 Energy Invest turnovers. Energy Invest was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Dwayne Lathan (190-89, college: Indiana St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Oleksandr Tishchenko (205-89) helped adding 17 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was center Sergo Atuashvili (223-85) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Maurice Lewis-Briggs (203-90, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Mansfield and Associates) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sokhumi moved-up to fourth place. Energy Invest at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Sokhumi will play against league's second-placed Kutaisi on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Energy Invest will play against Olimpi and hopes to get back on the winning track.
