Regular Season Round 21: HyPo - Huima 89-86

Ninth-ranked Aanekosken (7-14) was very close to win a game against first ranked HyPo (17-2) in Hyvinkaa on Saturday. HyPo managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected much easier game. Aanekosken trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 30-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 86-89 at the end of the game. HyPo made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Aanekosken outrebounded HyPo 44-26 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a good game for American guard Bria Goss (178-92, college: Kentucky) who led her team to a victory with 24 points and 6 assists. The former international swingman Henna Salomaa (177-89, college: Oakland) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four HyPo players scored in double figures. American swingman Robin Murphy (185-88, college: S.Mississippi) answered with 29 points (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Faith Randolph (178, college: Virginia) added 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Aanekosken. HyPo have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-2 record. Aanekosken at the other side keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. HyPo are looking forward to face Catz Lappeenranta (#4) on the road in the next round. Aanekosken will have a break next round.
