Very predictable result when third ranked Gernika (13-5) smashed at home 13th ranked CREF Hola (4-14) 72-46 on Saturday. The game without a history. Gernika led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to CREF Hola's 24. The former international power forward Maria Pina (187-87) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and DR Congolese forward Chanel Mokango (196-88, college: Mississippi St.) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Gernika's coach Mario Lopez felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Tamara Abalde (190-89) with 13 points and 9 rebounds and Nigerian forward Sarah Imovbioh (188-92, college: S.Carolina) scored 6 points and 10 rebounds. Gernika have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-5 record having four points less than leader Avenida. Loser CREF Hola keeps the thirteenth place with 14 games lost. Gernika will face league's leader Perfumerias Avenida in Salamanca in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CREF Hola will play at home against Campus Promete (#5) and hope to win that game.
