Regular Season Round 12: NUIG Mystics - Liffey Celtics 42-75

The game in Galway was supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Liffey Celtics (7-3) played at the court of 7th ranked NUIG Mystics (3-7). Liffey Celtics smashed NUIG Mystics 75-42 on Saturday. Liffey Celtics dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to NUIG Mystics' 28. They outrebounded NUIG Mystics 43-22 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Liffey Celtics looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 2 passes made by NUIG Mystics' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Emma O'Connor (183-91, college: Marist) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds and international power forward Aine O'Connor (182-91) who added 10 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Ebony Wells (188, college: La Salle) with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Brittany Glasco scored 4 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Liffey Celtics maintains second position with 7-3 record having four points less than leader Glanmire. Newly promoted NUIG Mystics keep the seventh place with seven games lost. Liffey Celtics will meet at home league's leader Glanmire in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. NUIG Mystics will play against Brunell (#8) in Cork and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
