Regular Season Round 17: Palermo - Vicenza 37-61

Very predictable result when second ranked Vicenza (13-2) rolled over on the road 12th ranked Palermo (2-13) 61-37. The game was mostly controlled by Vicenza. Palermo was better in second period 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Palermo to just 6 points in third quarter. The best player for the winners was naturalized Brazilian swingman Tayara Madonna (170-91, agency: Players Group) who scored 18 points. Guard Valentina Stoppa (172-85) chipped in 10 points. Croatian forward Ivana Blazevic (184-93) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Elettra Ferretti (175-93) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Vicenza maintains second place in A2 with 13-2 record having five points less than leader Sesto SG. Palermo at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Vicenza's next round opponent will be Udine Delser (#6) at home. Palermo will play against Salerno (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
