Regular Season Round 18: TAKE Tolosa - Mondragon 66-68

Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked TAKE Tolosa (2-13) was edged at home by tenth ranked Mondragon (6-9) 68-66 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 25-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. TAKE Tolosa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for guard Martxel Balanzategui (191-92) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Ivan Saez de Cortazar (198-91) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Karim Birawi (188-92) replied with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Jon Azaldegi (190-91) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for TAKE Tolosa. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Mondragon moved-up to ninth place in Group A-A, which they share with Pielagos and Burgos. Loser TAKE Tolosa keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. Mondragon will face Venta de Banos (#15) at home in the next round where they are favorite. TAKE Tolosa will play against Ardoi in Zizur Mayor and hope to win that game.
