Regular Season Round 18: Sagunto - UCAM Murcia II 51-64

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Sagunto (7-9) lost to second ranked UCAM Murcia II (11-4) in Gilet 51-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by UCAM Murcia II. Sagunto was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Sagunto 46-32 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for point guard Pablo Carselle (183-93) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Emilio Martinez (180-98) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Dutch forward Jordan Kaspers (197-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and Carlos Sales added 9 points in the effort for Sagunto. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. UCAM Murcia II have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group E with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader Chantada. Loser Sagunto dropped to the sixth place with nine games lost. UCAM Murcia II will face Valencia-2 (#5) at home in the next round. Sagunto will play against L Alfas in Alfas Del Pi and hope to win that game.
