Regular Season Round 22: Breogan - Forca Lleida 78-81

A very close game took place in Lugo between Lleida Basquet and Leche Rio Breogan. Tenth ranked Lleida Basquet (12-10) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Leche Rio Breogan (13-8). Lleida Basquet managed to escape with a 3-point win 81-78 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Leche Rio Breogan won third quarter 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lleida Basquet made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Lleida Basquet especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. American guard Garrett Nevels (188-92, college: Hawaii) notched 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international power forward Alfonso Alzamora (206-79) supported him with 6 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 16 points and 6 rebounds by American center Matt Stainbrook (208-92, college: Xavier, agency: Three Eye Sports) did not help to save the game for Leche Rio Breogan. Danish forward Jonathan Gilling (203-91, college: Arizona St.) added 14 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Lleida Basquet moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ourense and Araberri. Loser Leche Rio Breogan keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Lleida Basquet will meet at home league's leader Oviedo CB in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Leche Rio Breogan will play against Magia Huesca (#17) and hope to secure a win.
