Regular Season Round 18: Viten Fuen. - La Roda 71-82

Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Viten Fuen. (2-15) lost to second ranked La Roda (13-5) in Madrid 71-82 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by La Roda. Viten Fuen. was better in fourth quarter 20-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. La Roda forced 20 Viten Fuen. turnovers. Strangely Viten Fuen. outrebounded La Roda 42-21 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. It was a good game for American guard Tanner Samson (193-93, college: Elon) who led his team to a victory with 22 points. The other American import guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four La Roda players scored in double figures. Victor Moreno (195-98) replied with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Iker Cruz added 6 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Viten Fuen.Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. La Roda maintains second position in Group B with 13-5 record having just three point less than leader Chantada, which they share with Real Madrid II and Casvi. Loser Viten Fuen. keeps the fifteenth place with 15 games lost. La Roda will face Azuqueca (#5) at home in the next round. Viten Fuen. will play against Gran Canaria B (#7) and hope to win that game.
