Regular Season Round 16: Ethnikos - Panionios 67-78

A2 top team - Panionios (14-1) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Ethnikos (8-8) in Piraeus 78-67. The winners were led by guard Sakis Karydas (182-79) who scored that evening 18 points and center Tasos Dimitriadis (204-82) supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five Panionios players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 7 rebounds by swingman Nikos Kokkalis (198-85) did not help to save the game for Ethnikos. Center Kostas Macheras (205-85) added 12 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Panionios maintains first position with 14-1 record. Loser Ethnikos keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with Psyhiko. Panionios will meet at home Kavala (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ethnikos will play against Psyhiko (#8) in Athens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
