Rather predictable result when second ranked Sanen Neophoenix (21-14) won against 5th ranked Sendai 89ers (9-26) in Hamamatsu 73-63 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 16 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Sanen Neophoenix dominated on the defensive end, holding Sendai 89ers to just 7 points in third quarter. It was a good game for American forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import swingman Josh Childress (203-83, college: Stanford) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: N.Mexico St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks and American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sanen Neophoenix have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 21-14 record having nine points less than leader SeaHorses. Sendai 89ers lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 26 games lost. Sanen Neophoenix will face again Sendai 89ers (#5) at home in the next round.
